Investment Authority CEO and Canadian Prime Minister Discuss Strengthening Economic and Investment Partnership
- Held meetings in Toronto with senior officials and leaders of pension funds and Canadian institutions
The Managing Director of the Public Investment Authority (PIA), Sheikh Saud Salem Al-Sabah, met with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss ways to enhance economic and investment relations between Kuwait and Canada.
In a press statement issued to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday, the PIA said the meeting took place on the sidelines of Sheikh Saud Salem Al-Sabah’s participation in the inaugural edition of the Canada Investment Summit 2026, held in Toronto on September 14 and 15.
The PIA noted that the Managing Director conveyed the greetings of His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, the Amir of Kuwait; His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, the Crown Prince; and His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, the Prime Minister, to the Canadian Prime Minister, along with their wishes for Canada and its people for continued progress and prosperity.

The PIA added that the meeting discussed the long-standing historical relations between Kuwait and Canada, the PIA’s investment presence in Canadian markets, and ways to strengthen economic and investment ties between the two countries.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Managing Director held a series of meetings with several senior Canadian officials, including Foreign Minister Anita Anand and Ontario Premier Doug Ford. He also met with leaders of prominent Canadian pension funds and investment institutions.
The PIA stated that the meetings focused on exchanging views on developments in the global investment environment and the economic and investment outlook in Canada, as well as exploring areas of mutual interest and opportunities to enhance cooperation and investment partnerships.
The PIA participated in the summit, which brought together a select group of leading global investors, business leaders, and government officials, with the aim of strengthening engagement between Canada and major global investment institutions and showcasing long-term investment opportunities in the Canadian market.
The PIA has maintained an investment presence in Canada for more than 25 years. Its participation in the summit and the accompanying meetings reflects its commitment to strengthening relations with its international partners and continuing engagement with leading governments and investment institutions in global markets.
