Al-Sayer and Toyota Launch All-New Land Cruiser FJ
Mohammed Nasser Al-Sayer & Sons Company and Toyota announced the launch of the all-new Land Cruiser FJ, joining as a prominent member of the legendary Land Cruiser family. This model is designed to make the reliable capabilities and adventurous spirit of the Land Cruiser accessible to a broader range of customers.
The official launch event, held at Grand Avenue in The Avenues Mall, was an exceptional occasion attended by hundreds of visitors, top Kuwaiti social media influencers, Bengt Schultz – Executive Operations Director, Martin Ahern – First Group Toyota Business Director, Ian Tootill – General Manager of Toyota Retail, Badr Faisal Al-Sayer – First Toyota Marketing Director, along with a team from Al-Sayer’s senior management.
Freedom and Fun
The Land Cruiser FJ joins the Land Cruiser 300, Land Cruiser 70, and Land Cruiser Prado, developed under the concept of "Freedom and Fun." It combines reliability, durability, and off-road performance. Since the introduction of the original Toyota BJ model in 1951, the Land Cruiser has continued to evolve through real-world use in some of the most demanding environments globally. Its mission remains unchanged, with cumulative sales reaching approximately 12.4 million vehicles in over 190 countries and regions worldwide.
The Land Cruiser FJ embodies this established philosophy in a new and distinctive package. Its arrival expands the Land Cruiser lineup with a model that retains the core attributes of the Land Cruiser name, while offering excellent agility, practical dimensions, and a fun, appealing character. Guided by Toyota’s "TO YOU" concept, the Land Cruiser will continue to evolve in response to changing customer and societal needs, remaining a vehicle worthy of people’s trust.
Mid and High
Marking the launch of the all-new Land Cruiser FJ, Masaya Uchiyama, Chief Engineer of the Land Cruiser at Toyota Motor Corporation, said: "Our goal was to develop a vehicle that remains trusted in supporting the lives of a diverse range of customers, by returning to the original 'FJ40 CORE' idea, while inspiring people to enjoy life more."
The Land Cruiser FJ will be available in two grades: Mid and High. These grades allow customers to choose a vehicle that suits their individual preferences and intended use, while maintaining the core reliability, durability, and off-road performance shared across all grades.
Chassis
The wheelbase of the Land Cruiser FJ has been shortened, and underbody reinforcements have been added to increase chassis rigidity. High-strength steel, combining strength and lightweight properties, is used in the body structure, while additional underbody spot welding contributes to improved vibration damping. This combination enhances ride comfort without compromising the stability and structural strength expected from a Land Cruiser.
With a wheelbase of 2,580 mm, the Land Cruiser FJ is 270 mm shorter than the Land Cruiser Prado. This reduction in length achieves a minimum turning radius of 5.5 meters, facilitating maneuverability in urban environments, narrow tracks, and more complex off-road terrains.
The vehicle derives its power from a 2.7-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, producing a maximum output of 120 kW (163 PS) and a peak torque of 246 Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed Super ECT automatic transmission and a part-time four-wheel-drive system.
Off-Road and Comfort
The suspension system has been engineered to strike a balance between off-road capability, ride comfort, and stability on paved roads. The front employs a highly rigid double-wishbone suspension, while the rear utilizes a solid axle with four links and a lateral control rod. Together, these systems deliver reliable wheel control and balanced vehicle dynamics across diverse driving environments, from paved roads to challenging off-road trails.
