Al-Tabtabaee: Strengthening joint educational efforts and Gulf integration is essential for developing education
- Meeting of Education Ministers Discussed Kuwait’s Initiative for Student and Teacher Exchange for the Gifted and Outstanding
Education Minister Eng. Syed Jalal Al-Tabataba’i stressed on Wednesday the necessity of continuing to strengthen joint educational efforts and harmonizing visions among Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, in a move that contributes to developing the education system and keeping pace with its future aspirations.
This statement was made by Minister Al-Tabataba’i to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of his participation in the 10th meeting of the GCC Education Ministers Committee, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain and attended by the education ministers of the GCC member states.
Minister Al-Tabataba’i emphasized that the meeting represents an important milestone for enhancing educational cooperation among GCC countries and unifying visions regarding the development of general education. He highlighted the importance of joint initiatives and projects that contribute to elevating the educational system and leveraging successful experiences and expertise from GCC member states.

Al-Tabataba’i pointed out the importance of following up on initiatives previously proposed by Kuwait during the 9th meeting of the GCC Education Ministers Committee, hosted by Kuwait in 2025. These initiatives include the Unified Strategic Framework for General Education and the Student and Teacher Exchange Initiative for the Gifted and Outstanding.
He affirmed that continuing work on these initiatives would enhance Gulf educational integration, expand areas of communication and knowledge exchange among students and educational staff, and support talent and excellence by leveraging educational experiences and expertise among GCC member states.
He noted that developing education requires strengthening integration among GCC countries in various fields related to the educational process, including strategic transformation in general education, international cooperation, and the development of the work of the Arab Bureau of Education for Gulf Countries. He also emphasized the importance of financial literacy, student activities, sports, and awareness programs.
Minister Al-Tabataba’i expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain, its leadership, government, and people, for the warm welcome, generous hospitality, and excellent organization. He commended the efforts made to ensure the success of the 10th meeting of the GCC Education Ministers Committee.
The meeting discussed Kuwait’s initiative regarding student and teacher exchange for the gifted and outstanding in GCC countries, aiming to enhance the utilization of educational experiences and expertise, support the development of students’ talents and abilities, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and practices among outstanding educational staff in GCC member states.
The meeting also reviewed the decision of the Supreme Council at its 45th session, held in Kuwait in 2024, concerning the Gulf Strategy to Combat Drugs. It examined follow-up efforts and programs related to the educational and awareness systems in this field, aiming to strengthen prevention and protect students and the school community.
The meeting reviewed the fourth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which focuses on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. It also discussed instilling financial literacy principles among school students in GCC countries and enhancing financial awareness among students from early educational stages.
The meeting also discussed international cooperation in educational and pedagogical fields and ways to develop it, in a manner that serves the common objectives of the GCC states, as well as examining the issue of joint procurement of materials, systems, and equipment that support the educational process, thereby enhancing opportunities for integration and shared benefits among GCC member states.
The ministers also addressed the topic of the Gulf school sports league, which contributes to supporting school sports activities and strengthening communication among students of the GCC states, alongside the competitions program for Gulf students, which provides opportunities for competition, creativity, and the development of students’ skills in various fields.
