Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi affirmed his country’s position today, Wednesday, rejecting all forms of Israeli escalation and violations against the Palestinian people.
Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated in a press release that this stance was expressed during a meeting between President al-Sisi and his Palestinian counterpart, Mahmoud Abbas. During the meeting, al-Sisi emphasized that the Palestinian issue would remain the central issue in the region until it is resolved in a just and comprehensive manner.
El-Shenawy added that al-Sisi highlighted Egypt’s strenuous efforts to support the brotherly Palestinian people and work toward achieving a settlement in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, ensuring that the Palestinian people attain their full rights, foremost among which is the establishment of their independent state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as this is the only path to achieving lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
Al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s continuation of its efforts, in coordination with mediators, to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which was reached during the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in October 2025, and stressed the necessity for all parties to adhere to the agreement’s provisions, including halting escalation, ensuring the flow of humanitarian aid, and creating an environment conducive to the early recovery and reconstruction phase.
In this context, according to the statement, al-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s firm position rejecting the displacement of the Palestinian people or any attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause, affirming his country’s support for the Palestinian Authority and its efforts to achieve consensus among various Palestinian factions to enhance the interests of the brotherly people.
For his part, Abbas appreciated the significant efforts Egypt is making to support the Palestinian cause and protect the rights of the Palestinian people.
Abbas briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the latest developments related to the Palestinian cause, including the tragic situation in the West Bank resulting from Israeli occupation policies, while expressing his appreciation for Egypt’s historic and steadfast role in supporting the Palestinian cause and achieving a permanent and just settlement for it.
Abbas emphasized the importance of continuing consultations between the two countries regarding the situation in Palestinian territories and regional developments, a stance welcomed by President al-Sisi. Both sides agreed to intensify political coordination mechanisms in the coming period across all levels.
