U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated that the war with Iran will enter a "completely different phase" within two months, expressing agreement with President Donald Trump that the conflict may end immediately after the U.S. midterm elections.

In an exclusive interview with the New York Post, Vance clarified that the future cannot be predicted, but he believes Trump is correct in his assessment that the confrontation is transitioning to a different phase. He noted that the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, is the one who determines when conflicts begin and when they end.

Vance said the confrontation is proceeding in two phases, and that the first phase has "ended." He added that, in his words, this phase involved the "destruction of Iran's nuclear program, its conventional military capabilities, and its ability to project power" to the level it had before several years ago.

He added that the second phase focuses on ensuring Iran cannot rebuild those capabilities, while simultaneously working to maintain the greatest possible level of global stability.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Vance said Iran will continue to lose control over it until the elections, noting that shipping traffic through the strait has returned to well over 50% of its normal levels.

The U.S. Vice President affirmed that the United States is not currently engaged in offensive operations against Iran, pointing out that Tehran continues to fire at commercial ships from time to time, but mostly fails to hit them.

Trump had predicted the war would end after the midterm elections, while Vance emphasized that the final decision on when the conflict ends rests with the U.S. President.
