Minister of Social Affairs: Comprehensive national strategy to strengthen protection against domestic violence

Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Houla, chaired the third meeting of the National Committee for Protection from Domestic Violence on Tuesday, during which she discussed executive steps aimed at strengthening family security and community stability in the country.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Houla said the meeting addressed initiatives and perspectives submitted by the committee’s member entities, and examined mechanisms to enhance joint efforts and institutional coordination among state sectors and civil society organizations.

She added that discussions focused on activating joint efforts to advance the formulation of a comprehensive and integrated national strategy for protection from domestic violence, ensuring the development of an advanced and sustainable preventive and therapeutic system.
Al-Houla emphasized that formulating this strategy translates the directives of the Supreme Leadership regarding the necessity of mobilizing all efforts and resources to protect the family unit, and implements the relevant provisions of decrees and legislation.
She clarified that the integration of roles among relevant entities and the discussion of their initiatives constitute the fundamental pillar for developing mechanisms to monitor reports, provide immediate and effective protection to victims, and offer the necessary psychological and social support to family members.
She underscored the importance of raising community awareness of the system of rights and responsibilities in accordance with the state’s laws and legislation, contributing to strengthening family protection and consolidating community stability.
