Omani Maritime Security: Fire Extinguished on Oil Tanker 'ELGAIA' After Being Targeted
- Evacuation of 23 crew members and the tanker ELGAIA to a port in the Sultanate
The Omani Maritime Security Center announced on Tuesday the evacuation of the crew of a Panamanian-flagged oil tanker that had been targeted earlier, approximately 1.3 nautical miles northeast of Musandam Governorate, and whose engine room caught fire.
The Center added in a statement on the X platform that it is monitoring, in coordination with relevant authorities, the movement of the tanker (ELGAIA) to a port in the Sultanate of Oman, following the extinguishing of the fire that broke out in its engine room after it was targeted earlier.
