Director General of the Labor Force: Kuwait's participation in the Arab Labor Conference reflects a commitment to supporting cooperation on labor issues
The Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower, Engineer Rabab Al-Asimi, emphasized the importance of Kuwait’s participation in the 52nd session of the Arab Labour Conference held in Cairo, describing it as a vital platform for exchanging expertise and enhancing cooperation on labour and employment issues and human resource development.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday while chairing the Kuwaiti delegation to the conference, Al-Asimi stated that Kuwait’s participation underscores its commitment to supporting the trajectory of joint Arab labour efforts and contributing to the development of labour market policies in line with rapid economic and technological transformations.
She added that the conference, organized by the Arab Labour Organization from September 13 to 20, presents a significant opportunity for Arab countries to exchange experiences and expertise, and to discuss common challenges facing labour markets, as well as ways to enhance employment opportunities and reduce unemployment.
Al-Asimi noted that the current session focuses on the theme “Sustainable Economic Growth: Towards Inclusive and Equitable Social Development in Arab Countries,” a topic directly linked to the future of labour markets and the necessity of balancing economic growth requirements with social development objectives.
She highlighted the importance of the conference’s discussion axes regarding skills development and their alignment with labour market needs, enhancing employment opportunities, and human resource development, stressing the need to keep pace with rapid labour market developments and leverage modern technologies.
She viewed digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and technological advancement as presenting new challenges and opportunities for Arab labour markets, necessitating skills development, improved workforce efficiency, and enhanced institutional capacity to adapt to these changes.
The conference proceedings also address the impacts of climate change on the work environment, occupational safety, and health, the transition to a green economy, and the role of startups and entrepreneurship in supporting labour markets and creating new job opportunities.
Al-Asimi reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening its active presence at Arab and international forums concerned with labour issues, and learning from successful experiences and practices to contribute to the development of the labour and employment system and to foster a sustainable and inclusive work environment.
The Kuwaiti delegation participating in the 52nd session, led by Engineer Rabab Al-Asimi, includes representatives of the three production partners: governments, employers, and workers.
Jordan is presiding over this session, which discusses several issues related to the future of work and development in Arab countries, as well as enhancing cooperation, exchanging expertise and experiences in the fields of labour, employment, and human resource development.
