Ambassador Bursali presents his credentials as Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the IAEA

Confirmed support for the Agency’s efforts to prevent proliferation and promote the peaceful uses of nuclear energy

Discussed with Grossi aspects of cooperation and enhanced coordination on issues of common interest

Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Republic of Austria, Fawaz Al-Bursali, presented his credentials as Kuwait’s Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during a ceremony held at the Agency’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria.

In a press statement issued on Friday, the Kuwaiti Embassy in the Republic of Austria reported that Ambassador Al-Bursali, during his meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, emphasized the pivotal role played by the Agency in supporting international efforts to strengthen the nuclear non-proliferation regime and consolidate nuclear security and safety, as well as to promote the peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

According to the statement, Ambassador Al-Bursali expressed Kuwait’s commitment to continuing its support for the Agency’s work and efforts in various fields related to its mandate, contributing to the achievement of its objectives and enhancing international cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

He also affirmed Kuwait’s keenness to benefit from the technical programs and initiatives offered by the IAEA, thereby supporting member states’ efforts to develop their capacities and utilize peaceful applications of nuclear energy in various developmental sectors.

The meeting addressed areas of cooperation between Kuwait and the IAEA and ways to further develop and enhance them in the interest of mutual benefits, alongside the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation on issues and topics falling within the Agency’s competence.
