Washington Imposes Sanctions on Networks Supporting Iraqi 'Hezbollah Brigades' and Lebanese 'Hezbollah'

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Thursday the imposition of sanctions on networks accused of providing support to Iraq’s Kata’ib Hezbollah and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

In a statement, the Treasury said its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action against networks it said enable the Iranian regime to spread chaos and destruction in the Middle East through its proxies, clarifying that the latest sanctions target entities supporting Kata’ib Hezbollah and Hezbollah.

The Treasury affirmed that, according to the statement, these groups bolster Iran’s destabilizing influence in the Middle East and endanger U.S. forces.

It added that the sanctions target what it described as “the core of Iran’s most dangerous proxies,” noting that these groups not only terrorize civilians across the Middle East but also serve as key instruments used by Tehran to spread violence, sabotage, and global instability.

Last month, on the 24th, the United States launched the “Economic Pariah” operation to cut off what it described as the economic lifelines feeding the Iranian regime, by targeting sectors such as digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and maritime shipping.
