He clarified that no problems or violations related to breaking the house arrest have been recorded.
In an interview with "Al-Siyasa," Brigadier General Al-Asimi explained that the house arrest system does not cover violations such as recklessness, carelessness, or emitting loud exhaust noises. He noted that individuals whose vehicles have been confiscated can visit house arrest garages in Doha or Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh to request the application of house arrest.
He detailed that house arrest procedures begin with the violator filling out personal data and completing required formalities, followed by the installation of a smart device on the vehicle and its confinement at a location specified by the individual in their private residence.
He stated that after the device is installed, the violator receives a notification, emphasizing the necessity of not moving the vehicle more than 100 meters. If this occurs, a notification is sent to the operations room, and a violation is recorded against the offender with a fine of 50 dinars, after which the vehicle is returned to traditional confinement.
He added that tampering with or damaging the device results in a criminal case for damaging state property being filed against the violator.
Brigadier General Al-Asimi reiterated that individuals currently holding a confiscated vehicle can complete its detention period at home as part of their total mandated duration. He pointed out that detention periods vary depending on the type of violation, with a device installation fee of 10 dinars plus 2 dinars for each day of confinement.
Brigadier General Al-Asimi noted that the General Directorate of Traffic has observed a significant decline in the number of serious violations causing accidents, injuries, and fatalities. He explained that the stricter penalties in the amendments to the new Traffic Law have notably contributed to a reduction in fatal accident rates.
He affirmed that the objective of these measures and penalties is to protect lives and property, as well as to safeguard youth from the dangers of traffic accidents and curb traffic behaviors that threaten road safety.
He stated that judicial rulings involving imprisonment, fines, and vehicle confiscation were issued against approximately 30 individuals during July and August of last year.
He called on violators with recorded infractions to promptly settle outstanding fines, noting that Article 41 of the Traffic Law requires payment within two months of the violation. He clarified that failure to pay results in the case being referred to court, while simultaneously confirming a high level of compliance among violators in settling their outstanding fines.

In the past, we often saw young people in the bloom of life becoming victims of traffic accidents or suffering severe injuries. However, today these accidents have decreased significantly. The number of traffic violations has dropped by 45% during the first half of the current year (2026) compared to the same period in 2025.

Yes, judgments were issued against approximately 30 individuals during the past months of July and August, including imprisonment, fines, and confiscation of vehicles.

What should an offender do if they believe the violation issued against them is incorrect?
Anyone who believes a traffic violation issued against them is incorrect can open an investigation into it. There are six violation investigation departments distributed across traffic directorates in the six governorates, and any violator can approach the department corresponding to their governorate to file a complaint and clarify the reasons for their objection to the violation. The doors are open to everyone.
What happens after a complaint is filed?

What happens to vehicles that remain in the impound lot for a long period?
After three months of the vehicles being in the impound lot, they are put up for auction. The proceeds from the sold vehicles are used to settle the outstanding violations owed by the violator, along with land fees.
And if the vehicle’s value is less than the value of the outstanding violations and fees?
For example, if the sold vehicle is worth 500 dinars and the outstanding violations and land fees owed by the violator amount to 800 dinars, the 500 dinars from the vehicle sale are collected, and the remaining 300 dinars remain owed by the violator. This amount is recorded as government dues against them, meaning they cannot complete any transactions until the remaining balance is paid.

What measures are taken against minors who drive vehicles?
Legal action is taken against them, and they are referred to the Juvenile Court. The vehicle is also impounded for a period not exceeding two months.
What is your message to parents regarding their children driving vehicles?
We urge parents not to allow their children to drive vehicles, as this exposes them to legal accountability. Additionally, the vehicle is impounded, and the minor is referred to the Juvenile Court. After the judgment is issued, a criminal record is registered against them.
What message do you convey to violators who have outstanding fines?
We encourage violators who have recorded violations to promptly pay their outstanding fines. Article (41) of the Traffic Law requires payment of the fine within a period not exceeding 60 days from the date of the violation. If the fine is not paid, the case is referred to the court. There is significant interest among violators to proactively settle their outstanding fines.
Instructions to Apply the Law on Everyone
Major General Fawaz Al-Asimi confirmed that instructions were issued by the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, the Assistant Minister of Interior for Public Security Affairs, Major General Hamad Al-Munaifi, and the Head of the Traffic and Operations Sector, Major General Ahmed Al-Azmi, to apply the law on everyone.
No Intercession in Releasing Vehicles; The Law Applies to All
Major General Al-Asimi emphasized that there is no intercession in releasing impounded vehicles before the stipulated impoundment period. He clarified that serious violations, including speeding, recklessness, rash driving, and loud noises, result in a 60-day vehicle impoundment.
Speeding Over 200 Leads to General Prison
Al-Asimi stated that anyone exceeding a speed of 200 km/h will have a case registered against them and be referred to general prison pending the completion of legal procedures against them.
Violators Sentenced to Community Service
Brigadier General Al-Asimi stated that there are individuals against whom court orders for community service have been issued, and they are being assigned to more than one government entity, including the General Directorate of Traffic, where they carry out these sentences.
Overtaking violations... Two-month impoundment
