Four freshwater distribution complexes on Al-Tarh Street
The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy’s plan for the current fiscal year revealed 18 contracts to be tendered by the Water Projects Sector, which is responsible for planning, developing, designing, and supervising the implementation of water projects across all regions and serving all customer segments in the country.
Water distribution complexes in several areas top the list of the sector’s main priorities, given their vital role in enhancing the strategic reserve of fresh water and ensuring continuous, uninterrupted supply without fluctuations. The contracts include the tendering of four fresh water complexes: Al-Wafra, Ad-Doha, Shuwaikh, and Hawalli. Through these contracts, two underground tanks, a water pumping station, and a main power station will be constructed. The contracts also cover the supply and installation of pumps and pipes on-site, as well as civil, mechanical, and electrical works and control devices.

The water projects contracts aim to establish main water lines from Shuwaikh to Bayan, from Shuwaikh to Hawalli, from Hawalli to Al-Fahaheel Road, from Abdullah Port Water Complex to West Al-Funaitis Water Complex, and a low-salinity water line from Abdullah Port Water Complex to Al-Zour Complex. Additionally, water lines will be laid from Al-Wafra Water Complex No. 1 to the southern area of Sabah Al-Ahmad City residential zone.
Meanwhile, the Central Tenders Committee recently opened bids for excavation works in various parts of the country. The bid opening results confirmed the acceptance of 10 bids, which will be referred to the ministry for review and preparation of a technical recommendation. The award decision will be made based on the bid that complies with the specifications and technical requirements.
The tender aims to adjust the status of medium-pressure cables and carry out excavation and backfilling works to raise the cables, as well as modify cable routes and deepen them, along with civil works related to customers and all state projects.
