Britain condemns Houthi resumption of conflict in Yemen and attacks on Saudi Arabia

Britain strongly condemned on Thursday the Houthi decision to resume the conflict in Yemen and their attacks on Saudi Arabia, including targeting civilians and energy infrastructure.

The British Foreign Office confirmed in a statement on Thursday that Britain stands alongside Saudi Arabia and the internationally recognized Yemeni government.

Britain placed full responsibility for the crisis on the Houthis, stating that their decision to reignite the conflict in Yemen exposes the most vulnerable Yemeni citizens to further risks and directly exacerbates humanitarian suffering.

It added that Houthi attacks threaten broader regional stability, freedom of navigation, and vital trade routes through the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab strait.

Britain affirmed Saudi Arabia’s and the Yemeni government’s right to defend their security and sovereignty in accordance with international law, noting that it is working with its partners to support regional stability, protect civilians, and ensure humanitarian aid reaches Yemen.

It called on the Houthis to “immediately cease their attacks and escalation.”
