The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy is preparing to commence the annual routine maintenance of components in its electricity and water networks, timed with the gradual decline in temperatures and their positive impact on consumption rates.
Sources close to the ministry stated that the ministry will begin, starting from the middle of the current month, routine maintenance work on electricity and water production units and desalination plants in preparation for the summer 2027 season. This aims to address the challenges posed by high temperatures and the accompanying surge in consumption rates, which are expected to reach record highs.

The sources indicated that there is coordination between the power stations sector and the monitoring and control centers to determine the schedule and timing for taking units and desalination plants offline for necessary maintenance, as well as the duration of these maintenance periods. They noted that Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy Dr. Subaih Al-Muheziem and Deputy Minister Dr. Adel Al-Zamil are closely monitoring the annual maintenance program and tracking progress in real time to ensure that maintenance operations are completed according to the established schedules.
It was clarified that with the gradual drop in temperatures, ministry officials and all employees across its various sectors have felt a certain sense of relief compared to the period when temperatures ranged between 49 and 50 degrees Celsius. The ministry successfully avoided scheduled power outages throughout the summer months and managed emergency outages thanks to the rapid response of emergency teams and the efforts made by the monitoring and control centers sector to manage electricity loads.
In a related development, the ministry is preparing a detailed media report on the measures it implemented during the current summer, the steps taken to rationalize electricity and water consumption, the results achieved, and consumption rates compared to previous years.
