Pakistan: Attacks on Saudi Arabia from Yemen will activate the joint defense agreement

Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated that any attacks targeting Saudi Arabia launched from Yemen would trigger the implementation of the joint defense agreement among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

Asif, in an interview with Geo News, added that his country is obligated to provide assistance to the Kingdom under the agreement, emphasizing that “no one should doubt this.”

He clarified that the joint defense agreement, known as the “Mecca Tripartite Agreement,” stipulates that any aggression against one of the three countries is considered aggression against all of them.

In a related development, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, asserting that such attacks not only threaten innocent lives but also impact peace and security in the region.

Sharif reaffirmed his country’s renewed support for the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
