The Son of Our President... Mahmoud Abbas
I wish Mahmoud Abbas longevity, but if it appears that his son, Yasser, is to succeed him as President of the Palestinian Authority, then no.
For we Palestinians do not inherit, nor are we inherited by anyone. It is not enough for this son to be the offspring of that man, Mahmoud Abbas, for us to accept him as his successor; for a simple reason: we are in a state that should, or ought to, adhere to the rules of presidential governance in democratic republics.

God grant our President longevity, but contingency is possible. From now on, I say it openly, clearly, and publicly, with the present knowing the absent: I, Adnan Makka Jarada, a pure Gazan through and through, refuse to go to sleep and wake up to find the President’s son, Engineer Yasser Mahmoud Abbas, as my president. Just as I woke up one day in May 2026 to find him a member of the Central Committee of Fatah.
Even regarding the elections of which the President’s son is proud, and his friend, the General Supervisor of Palestinian Official Media (who is also from Fatah),
they did not announce that after the election results were revealed, and I secured third place after the two Fatah candidates, of course, that I am the first reserve in these elections; as an independent, I could replace one of the two who won these elections, in their capacity and with the support of the Fatah men who filled the hall of the Palestinian embassy.
The reason they did not announce that I am the first reserve in case of absence, or death, God forbid, of one of them, is my belief that Yasser Mahmoud Abbas and Ahmad Assaf do not want any independent Palestinian in the Palestinian National Council. They want all members of the National Council to be from the Fatah movement, but this time through elections conducted in the manner of the elections they supervised in Kuwait last Saturday, and which they are currently supervising in Bahrain, Qatar, and elsewhere.
When they manage to form the Palestinian National Council from “Fatahists,” they can then claim that holding presidential elections in the future, after the President’s long, experienced, and peaceful tenure, Mahmoud Abbas, would be difficult and impossible without East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. Therefore, our sole reference for presidential determination is the Palestinian National Council, the parliament of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.

Then; why were single-vote ballots not counted?
The point is:
As much as I admire President Mahmoud Abbas, who believes, as I do, or whom I believe, as he does, that the military conflict with the powerful, arrogant Israel is “failed” and doomed, and must be replaced by conscious human and political struggle against the odious, religiously racist government of Netanyahu, supported by the richest, strongest, fiercest, and most rapacious country in the world, America-Trump; as much as I am “displeased” with his son’s views, and strongly reject the idea of him becoming my president by inheritance.
And on the occasion of the approaching Israeli elections, which are free and effectively open to all Israelis, unlike our Palestinian elections.
I pray that the Netanyahu government falls; that it sinks from our faces, and thus sinks from our faces its brothers in the breast milk of religious violence, the leaders and men of the “Hamas” movement in the devastated Gaza, so that we, the people of Gaza, may live in peace and dignity, and allow others to live in peace and dignity.
