'Fox News': US military targeted Iranian oil tankers near Kharg and Jask

Fox News reported, citing U.S. officials, that the U.S. military targeted Iranian oil tankers near Kharg Island and the city of Jask.

In response, Iran’s Fars News Agency announced on Tuesday evening that several explosions were heard in the vicinity of Iran’s Kharg Island.

The agency stated that multiple explosions were heard in the waters of the Persian Gulf surrounding the island, with no smoke or fire observed in the area. It noted that no official information had been released regarding the cause or source of the sounds, with details to be announced later.

It added that an explosion was also heard in the city of Jask, located in Hormozgan Province in southern Iran.

Fars quoted local sources as saying the sounds originated from the sea near the “Sang Siah” area, and that the explosion occurred in two stages with a short time interval between them.
