This is the time to eliminate the Houthi terrorism
It is good that the legitimate Yemeni army has recently moved to confront the terrorist Houthi group; indeed, it should have worked to curb the Houthis’ activities long ago. However, as the saying goes, late is better than never, because in recent times the group has crossed all boundaries, particularly through its continuous terrorism both domestically and abroad.
In response, the Houthi group’s recent attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the targeting of civilian facilities constitute a defined act of terrorism that cannot be justified or tolerated under any pretext. In fact, it can be said that this gang has entered a complex trajectory following the legitimate government’s success in controlling several strategic sites and directorates.
This indicates that the group has become much weaker than before and is attempting to expand the front lines to try to alleviate internal pressure and achieve certain objectives to save face before its patron, the Iranian regime, which today finds itself in need of support from its proxies after being economically and militarily isolated. This situation has caused the group to lose its political bearings.
For a long time, we have stated that this group has been an Iranian facade, operating according to an agenda dictated by Tehran. The source of the weapons supplied to them, their smuggling routes, and how areas under their control are managed by experts from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are all well known.
Therefore, the current situation appears to be a composite scenario that transcends the boundaries of the local civil war, particularly with the announcement by the Presidential Leadership Council of the launch of the “Integrated Deterrence” operation. Undoubtedly, if this operation receives political, regional, and international support, it will lead to decapitating this snake that has wreaked havoc not only in Yemen but also across the Arabian Peninsula and the Bab al-Mandab strait.
Everyone recognizes that the Houthi group’s plan aims to change the Yemeni reality ideologically, religiously, and politically, hoping to turn Yemen into an Iranian backyard, through which they can penetrate deep into the Arabian Peninsula and achieve Tehran’s strategic goal of controlling the Islamic holy sites. However, this has been met, and continues to be met, with resistance from the armies of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, led by the Saudi army.
At that point, the situation reached the stage of besieging the group. However, the administration of US President Joe Biden concluded an undisclosed agreement with the group when it threatened to prevent ships from sailing through the Bab al-Mandab strait. This led the terrorist organization to believe it could alter regional equations and that this would grant it wider scope to continue disrupting regional security.
This shift served as a green light for the Houthis to continue their terrorist operations and destabilize the regional situation. Meanwhile, significant pressure was exerted on the legitimate government to keep matters on an unclear path.
Consequently, when the legitimate government confronted Iranian aircraft transporting weapons to Yemen, the equation shifted from its previous course, and the Houthi military weakness became increasingly apparent. On this basis, the group today faces only one path: surrender and abandon its subservience to Iran.
If it does not surrender, it is incumbent upon the Yemeni people to stand against this group and crush it to preserve their lived cultural, religious, and political heritage.
