Sri Lankans arrested with 37 bags of crystalline narcotics in Salmiya

The Security Directorate of Hawalli Governorate, represented by the Operations and Patrols Department, apprehended two Sri Lankan nationals in the Salmiya area, in possession of 37 bags, each containing a crystalline narcotic substance.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that the arrest took place while a security patrol was carrying out its duties in the area. The patrol spotted two individuals digging in a dirt lot. Upon approaching them to verify their activities, one of the suspects attempted to flee, but security forces managed to subdue him and apprehend both individuals.

The precautionary search yielded 27 bags in the possession of the first suspect and 10 bags in the possession of the second, totaling 37 bags.

The ministry added that both suspects and the seized items were referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal action against them.
