Regarding the Houthi escalation, the Saudi Foreign Minister said that “the Houthis have opened a door they cannot bear,” noting that the group is attempting to export its internal problems in Yemen to Saudi Arabia.

He added that the Houthis resort to violence whenever they find themselves in a difficult position, pointing out that the group insists on imposing further suffering on the Yemeni people rather than responsibly engaging in the political process.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan reaffirmed that the diplomatic path for dealing with the Houthis remains open, clarifying that the legitimate Yemeni government had provided an opportunity for responsible negotiations, but the group prefers to prioritize its narrow personal interests over those of Yemen and its people.

For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that Houthi attacks on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia are “unacceptable,” warning that they endanger civilian lives and have repercussions for the global economy.

Lavrov stressed the necessity of ensuring security and freedom of navigation in the Bab al-Mandab strait, calling for resolving existing disputes through diplomatic and political means.

On bilateral matters, the Russian Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s interest in enhancing trade exchanges with Saudi Arabia and continuing close coordination with it within the framework of OPEC+.
