Ministry of Islamic Affairs: Dismissal of an inspector and several employees and referral to the Public Prosecution for tampering with fingerprint attendance systems
Al-Wasmi: We will not compromise on protecting public funds and will hold accountable anyone proven to be involved
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Wasmi, issued a ministerial decision regarding incidents of tampering with fingerprint systems used to record attendance and departure, following the conclusion of investigations conducted by the ministry. The investigations led to the dismissal of an administration supervisor and several male and female employees whose involvement was established, and their referral to the Public Prosecution, alongside the taking of necessary legal measures to recover all amounts paid to them without justification.

Minister Al-Wasmi affirmed to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Tuesday that the ministry is firmly committed to protecting public funds and safeguarding the integrity of public service. He stressed that the ministry will not hesitate or show leniency in holding accountable anyone proven to be involved in tampering with the ministry’s systems or unlawfully appropriating public funds, regardless of their status or job position, whether through administrative investigations or by reporting to the Public Prosecution.
He clarified that other incidents and suspicions uncovered during the investigations have been referred to the Public Prosecution, emphasizing that accountability will not be limited to the primary offender but will extend to anyone proven to have participated in, contributed to, or facilitated the violation, based on the findings of the investigations.
Minister Al-Wasmi stressed that “public funds are a trust, and the law will be applied to everyone without exception. Neither job position nor rank will serve as a barrier to accountability.”
He noted that the ministry continues to plug loopholes, strengthen oversight, and develop attendance and departure systems, in order to prevent the recurrence of such incidents, protect state funds and the dignity of public service, and ensure the continuity and smooth operation of work.
