Documenting Incidents in the Curriculum... A Blessed National Step

A major and monumental step by the Ministry of Education, documenting Iranian aggression against Kuwait in the new curricula, and because it serves the national memory of future generations, who will learn how Kuwait has been subjected to continuous aggression throughout the last six months.

In the previous period, Kuwait was subjected to numerous attacks from a neighbor that was expected to deal with its neighbors in good faith, as the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, particularly Kuwait, did. Kuwait never sought to disturb this neighbor, despite the many terrorist acts committed against it over the past 47 years.

This blessed step by the Ministry of Education also serves the state’s path, which is based on a firm national identity embedded in the Kuwaiti consciousness. It falls within the vision of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, and His Highness the Prime Minister, as it stems from a model approach to preserving collective memory. It also contributes to consolidating Kuwaiti history and adds to the crime of the brutal invasion in 1990 and the devastation it left in Kuwaiti society.

This step is among the milestones Kuwait has passed through in modern times, demonstrating how it emerged from crises stronger and more firmly rooted in popular consciousness, which contains many lessons that can be built upon. These are among the numerous lessons preserved in the national memory.

This falls within the vision of His Highness the Amir, who has emphasized on multiple occasions the necessity of “no national unity without consolidating identity,” as it is the true strength for confronting hardships and threats. Therefore, His Highness stated in his speech during the last ten nights of Ramadan last year: “Our nation is a red line, and its sovereignty is safeguarded by the will of its people and the bravery of its men and women. We will not allow any country to infringe upon its security or stability. Our national unity is the first line of defense, and our cohesion is the true guarantee in these times to confront challenges and overcome crises.”

This call is the beacon upon which the foundations of the modern state are built. Consequently, documenting the aggressions in the curricula is the means to make history a witness to what Kuwait has endured in this war, which we hope will end soon.

Indeed, His Highness the Amir, through this high directive, intended to clarify matters precisely, so that everyone may dedicate their energies to serving this nation and continue working on all fronts to consolidate national unity as a fundamental factor in building the strategic path for the future of this country.

From this perspective, the Ministry of Education’s step aims to build an educational fortress for future generations, based on the scientific documentation of what Kuwait has suffered, strengthening national immunity, and establishing a state with a history that no one can distort.
