Lebanese President: Targeting civilian institutions and health facilities is a dangerous escalation that violates the ceasefire agreement
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called on the United States and the international community on Sunday to take “urgent action” to halt Israeli occupation violations of the Framework Agreement, placing full responsibility for the ongoing escalation on the occupying forces.
This came in a statement by President Aoun, who condemned the renewed Israeli occupation attacks on the city of Nabatieh and its towns, which resulted in casualties and severe damage to the Ministry of Finance building and the destruction of the Gandour Hospital.
He stated that this targeting constitutes a “dangerous escalation” that goes beyond repeated violations of the Ceasefire Agreement and the Framework Agreement, affecting Lebanese state institutions and their service facilities related to citizens’ affairs and livelihoods, as well as hospitals and health centers.

He considered the targeting of the Ministry of Finance building, following the earlier attack on the State Security Center that had already caused deaths, to reveal a “persistent pattern of aggression” that extends from alleged military targets to purely civilian administrations and health centers, reflecting a clear intent to disrupt the continuity of Lebanese institutions and interfere with people’s daily interests.
Aoun called on the United States and the international community to take “urgent action” to stop these violations and hold the perpetrators accountable, affirming Lebanon’s commitment, despite these attacks, to preserving its sovereignty, stabilizing its south, and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
Earlier today, the Israeli occupation army launched a series of airstrikes targeting several areas in the south, causing destruction at the Gandour Hospital in Upper Nabatieh.
For her part, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health stated in a press release that the targeting of the hospital, which led to its complete destruction, “exacerbates the losses suffered by the health sector due to the ongoing aggression,” noting that the hospital had been forced to cease operations about two months ago due to the concentration of Israeli occupation attacks on the Nabatieh area and its surroundings.
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health had announced earlier today that the preliminary toll of the airstrikes launched by the Israeli occupation army in the south stood at four dead and 20 wounded.
