Traffic Department to begin home visits for vehicles with violations starting tomorrow

The General Directorate of Traffic will begin implementing the home detention system for vehicles with violations tomorrow, Sunday, in accordance with Ministerial Decision No. 1090 and the approved guidelines for cases covered by the system.

Previously, Assistant Director General for Violations and Licensing, Brigadier General Khaled Al-Adwani, clarified in a statement that home detention applies to specific cases and does not cover serious violations, such as recklessness and rash driving, or certain violations that require vehicle impoundment in an impound lot, such as “Qazzouz sound.”

Al-Adwani noted that the detention period varies depending on the type of violation, reaching up to 60 days. He explained that a home-detained vehicle may not be moved except in cases of necessity and emergencies, as confirmed by an official report.

He emphasized that tampering with or damaging the detention device exposes the violator to legal prosecution and results in the vehicle being transferred to an impound lot. He stressed that the objective of the system is to regulate the detention process and facilitate procedures, while ensuring compliance with the law.
