Abdel-Ati: The security of Bahrain and the Gulf states is an integral part of Egypt’s national security

Egypt and Bahrain affirmed on Saturday the importance of intensifying efforts to contain tensions and de-escalate hostilities, thereby contributing to preserving the security and stability of the region and sparing its peoples the repercussions of a widening confrontation.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that this came during a telephone conversation between Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati and his Bahraini counterpart, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, as part of the continuous consultations between the two countries.

The ministry clarified that the call addressed the distinguished bilateral relations and the rapid regional developments and their impact on the security and stability of the region.

It was noted that Abdel-Ati expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with Bahrain in the face of any threats to its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, emphasizing that the security of Bahrain and the Arab Gulf states constitutes an integral part of Egypt’s national security.

He stressed the necessity of halting the current escalation and avoiding any steps that could widen the scope of confrontation, while working to create favorable conditions for a return to political and diplomatic tracks.
