Minister of Public Works: 'Green Mobility Forum' Supports Gulf States' Trends Toward More Efficient and Sustainable Transport
Agreements, projects, and initiatives worth over $1.6 billion in transport, logistics, and green mobility
Public Works Minister Dr. Noura Al-Muqarram confirmed on Friday the importance of participating in the Second Gulf Forum for Green Mobility in the Sultanate of Oman, highlighting its role in supporting Gulf states’ trends toward more efficient, sustainable, and low-carbon transport solutions.

This statement was made by Minister Al-Muqarram to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) following the conclusion of her participation in the forum, hosted in Salalah, Dhofar Governorate. The event saw the participation of officials, experts, and specialists from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Omani Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology Engineer Saeed Al-Maawali, and the presence of Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Sultanate, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hajeri.
Al-Muqarram stated that “this Gulf platform is a suitable opportunity to exchange experiences and learn about modern projects and initiatives that support the development of transport systems, enhancing their efficiency and sustainability, thereby supporting Kuwait’s and other GCC members’ trends toward more efficient, sustainable, and low-carbon transport solutions.”
She added that participation in the forum’s sessions aims to strengthen Gulf cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of transport, infrastructure, logistics, and sustainable mobility, as well as to learn about modern projects and green energy-based initiatives.
The forum, held under the patronage of Dhofar Governor Marwan Al Said and concluding on Thursday, showcased the latest GCC initiatives and projects in sustainable mobility, while highlighting the Sultanate of Oman’s efforts to develop a more efficient, sustainable, and low-carbon transport system, in line with “Oman Vision 2040” and the goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The closing ceremony witnessed the announcement of a package of agreements, projects, and initiatives in the transport, logistics, and green mobility sectors, with a total value exceeding OMR 600 million (approximately $1.6 billion US). It also saw the launch of the Omani national application “Shahin” for electric vehicle charging services, and the approval of the regulatory framework for electric charging point operators and service fee tariffs.
The event also highlighted the volume of investments related to green mobility in the Sultanate of Oman, which exceeded OMR 320 million ($831.6 million) in 2025. These investments covered projects in the ports, marine fuel, shipping, electric mobility, fast-charging centers, and supporting technologies and solutions sectors.
Announced projects during the ceremony included the operation of the first hydrogen production, supply, and distribution station in the Sultanate of Oman in partnership with Shell Oman, and the operation of the first 15 light-duty hydrogen vehicles powered by green hydrogen. Additionally, projects were announced for ship recycling, supplying ships with electricity while at berth, and establishing an integrated facility for green methanol production and ship supply.
