Trump appoints Adam Kelley as Acting U.S. Secretary of the Army

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday morning the appointment of Adam Tilly as Acting Secretary of the Army, succeeding Dan Driscoll, who stepped down from his post days earlier amid reports of disagreements with Pentagon leadership.

Trump stated in a post on the “Truth Social” platform: “I am pleased to announce that Adam Tilly, the current Assistant Secretary of the Army, will assume the role of Acting Secretary of the Army, effective immediately,” describing him as “a great patriot who is respected by all.”

Tilly was sworn in as Assistant Secretary of the Army in August 2025, following confirmation by the US Senate.

Tilly serves as the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, having spent a significant portion of his career working as a congressional aide in the US Congress.

Driscoll’s departure is part of a series of exits by senior military officials in the Trump administration.
