Trump: Should we rename the Strait of Hormuz to the 'Trump Strait' now that it is under our control?
- We facilitated the passage of 28 ships yesterday... and Iran will not possess a nuclear weapon
U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States now controls the Strait of Hormuz, wondering whether its name should be changed to the “Trump Strait.”
Trump wrote on his platform, Truth Social: “Now that it is under the control of the United States, should we change the name of the Strait of Hormuz to the Trump Strait?” He added, “Like America itself, it will be hotter than ever.”
In other remarks, Trump said that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz and that it had facilitated the passage of 28 ships through it yesterday.
Regarding Iran, Trump said he had proven his point, asserting that the United States is achieving “amazing results” and that Tehran will not possess a nuclear weapon.
He added that Iran “is not getting anything right now,” arguing that if it had a nuclear weapon, “it would have used it by now,” and said, “They are crazy.”
Trump pointed out that, in his view, Iran was two weeks away from possessing a nuclear weapon, adding, “So I destroyed it.”
