Kuwait’s Minister of Education, Sayyid Jalal Al-Tabatabai, honored Kuwaiti students who won at the International Earth Science Olympiad, recently held in the Italian city of Turin, in recognition of their outstanding results and for raising the country’s name high at international scientific forums.

In a press statement issued today, Wednesday, after receiving the honored students in his office in the presence of several ministry leaders, Minister Al-Tabatabai emphasized that the scientific excellence embodied by the students is a badge of honor for Kuwait. The medals they won are a culmination of their efforts, perseverance, and scientific capabilities, serving as a source of pride for the honorable performance they delivered in an international competition that brought together a select group of students from various countries around the world.
He noted that honoring them today reflects a firmly established reality: that Kuwait has always been, and continues to be, a cradle for the distinguished and creative, brimming with the potential of its youth and promising minds capable of competing, achieving, and elevating the nation’s name on the international stage.
Al-Tabatabai added that the Ministry views these achievements as a motivation to continue investing in the capabilities of gifted and outstanding students, working to discover their talents early and refine them through specialized training programs and high-quality scientific participation, thereby contributing to the preparation of a generation equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary for the future.
He also praised the efforts of the team supervisors, commending their follow-up, training, and preparation of the students. He pointed out that these achievements are the result of integrated cooperation among the students, their families, supervisors, and educational institutions, serving as an example of the importance of coordinated efforts in supporting student excellence.
Al-Tabatabai stated that the Ministry of Education will continue to support students with talents and scientific capabilities, providing them with opportunities to participate in international forums and competitions, thereby enhancing Kuwait’s presence in scientific fields and consolidating a culture of excellence and innovation among students.
The winning student delegation included Talal Al-Mutairi, Ghaliya Al-Anzi, Narjes Sabti, and Kawthar Al-Qattan, along with the team supervisors: geology supervisor Abdullah Al-Maqssid and geology supervisor Nora Al-Wanda.
