Bahraini Interior Minister: High Gulf readiness to handle emergencies and ensure continuity of trade and supply chains

Bahraini Interior Minister, First Class General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, today on Tuesday, praised the preparedness level of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states in handling emergency situations and maintaining the continuity of trade and supply chains.
This came during his reception of the heads of delegations participating in the 18th meeting of the Executive Council of the Customs Union Authority of the GCC countries.

The Bahraini Interior Minister expressed his appreciation for the efforts of member states in completing the requirements of the Customs Union, which enjoys the support of the GCC leaders. He commended the launch by the GCC states of a temporary exceptional mechanism for logistical transit to deal with the negative repercussions of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
He noted that the mechanism has primarily contributed to accelerating the movement of goods and ensuring their smooth flow, particularly food and medical supplies, through the rapid exchange of information, coordination of procedures, and harmonization of customs efforts. This reflects the GCC states' preparedness in handling emergency situations and maintaining the continuity of trade and supply chains.
He clarified that the next phase requires accelerating the pace of achievement and developing joint work amidst successive challenges, aiming to complete the establishment of the Customs Union and realize its objectives on the ground. He pointed to the role of customs systems and procedures in enhancing the efficiency of border crossings, securing supply chains, and safeguarding the security, safety, and economic interests of the GCC states.
He commended the efforts of the GCC Customs Union Authority and its role in completing the requirements for the establishment of the Union and developing the course of joint Gulf customs work, expressing his best wishes for the Authority’s Executive Council meeting to succeed in achieving its desired objectives.
Representing the State of Kuwait at the meeting was Yusuf Al-Nuaim, Head of the General Customs Authority, leading the Kuwaiti participating delegation.
The "Customs Authority" stated in a press release that Kuwait’s participation underscores its commitment to supporting Gulf customs integration and enhancing regional security and the smooth flow of trade.
