British naval authority: tanker hit by three unknown projectiles while exiting the Strait of Hormuz

The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced today that a tanker reported being struck by three unidentified projectiles while transiting out of the Strait of Hormuz, 17 nautical miles east of Khasab in the Sultanate of Oman.

According to Reuters, the agency stated that no reports of injuries or environmental damage had been received as a result of the incident, and authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances.

The advisory issued by the agency did not include the name of the tanker or its flag, nor did it specify the nature of the projectiles, the party responsible for firing them, or the extent of the damage sustained by the vessel. The UKMTO urged ships in the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.

The incident follows a separate case announced by the agency on Sunday, when a tanker reported being hit by an unidentified projectile while sailing into the Strait of Hormuz, 12 nautical miles north of Khasab, with no injuries or environmental damage recorded.
