286 Arab figures from 11 countries: Tehran's policies threaten the region's security and stability

- Reject appeasement and war, and call for support for the Iranian people to establish a democratic, non-nuclear republic

286 Arab figures from 11 countries, including current and former parliamentarians, former ministers, and political and intellectual personalities, signed a statement condemning the policies of the Iranian regime, its interference in the affairs of Arab states, its support for militias, its export of terrorism, and its threat to the security and sovereignty of countries in the region.

The list of signatories included personalities from Bahrain, Tunisia, Jordan, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, and Yemen.

The signatories affirmed that, according to the statement, Tehran’s interventions in the region are linked to the nature of the Supreme Leader system and its domestic and foreign policies. They considered that internal repression, the export of terrorism, interference in the affairs of Arab states, and the pursuit of nuclear weapons constitute fixed pillars of the regime’s policy.

The statement pointed out that missile and drone attacks, as well as support for Tehran-aligned forces, reflect, in the view of the signatories, the Iranian regime’s continued use of military and security tools to protect its authority at the expense of the region’s security and stability.

The signatories believed that any regional arrangements to enhance collective security would remain incomplete if limited to confronting Tehran’s external proxies without supporting the Iranian people and their organized resistance. They considered that the problem is not limited to the militias, but extends to the regime that created, funded, and utilized them.

They noted that the intensification of repression against opponents, particularly members and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), reflects, according to the statement, the regime’s fear of organized resistance and of the unrest within Iranian society.

The signatories affirmed that neither appeasement nor war constitutes a solution to the crisis in Iran and the region. They considered that appeasing the regime has given it time and resources to expand its influence, while external war cannot establish a stable democratic alternative within Iran.

The statement called for supporting the Iranian people’s right to freedom and democracy, and for backing their organized resistance to overthrow the Supreme Leader system and establish a democratic, non-nuclear republic that respects human rights and is based on good neighborliness and cooperation with the peoples of the region.

The Arab-Islamic Committee for Rejecting the Iranian Regime’s Interference in the Region affirmed that Gulf and Arab security is not complete by merely confronting the outcomes of Iranian policies. In its view, it requires addressing their source, considering that sustainable peace in the region begins with changing the equation in Tehran and ending a regime that uses repression, militias, and war as tools for survival.
