5.5-magnitude earthquake strikes eastern Indonesia

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Indonesia on Monday, with no risk of a tsunami.

The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics reported that the quake occurred at 15:03 local time, with its epicenter located in the sea 50 kilometers northeast of Ruteng in the Manggarai region, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The agency specified that the epicenter was situated at 8.17 degrees south latitude and 120.58 degrees east longitude, confirming that it posed no threat of a tsunami.

Residents of Manggarai, West Manggarai, Sikka, and East Sumba felt the tremors to varying degrees.
