Trump: We will soon refill the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve with Venezuelan crude

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the United States will soon begin refilling its Strategic Petroleum Reserve with Venezuelan crude, following the signing of an oil deal between Washington and Caracas that he described as “the largest in history.”

Trump said in a post on his platform, Truth Social: “One of the things I will do with Venezuelan oil, as a result of the recent agreement, is to refill the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve, whose levels have dropped sharply over the past few years.”

He added that the process of replenishing the reserve would begin soon, describing Venezuelan oil as “a gift from Venezuela to the American people.”

Trump had announced on Friday that the United States and Venezuela had signed an oil agreement he described as “the largest in history,” saying it would secure “American control” over a portion of Venezuela’s oil reserves.

The agreement aims to revive Venezuela’s heavily damaged oil sector, but it requires significant investments and infrastructure work to boost production to higher levels.
