From inside his US prison... Maduro appears in the first images posted on his account since his arrest

The official account of former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro posted two photos of himself inside his detention facility in the United States on the “X” platform on Sunday, accompanied by a message addressed to his family and supporters.

These are the first two photos released by Maduro’s account from inside his detention since his arrest, both dated June 25, 2026.

The caption accompanying the photos read: “A small gift of love and hope,” adding, “I am sending these photos as a small gift to all my grandchildren, to the children and girls, and to all noble people who love us.”

The account further stated: “I want you to know that we are standing firm and resolute, and our hearts are filled with your love; that love that reaches us in the form of prayers, continuous giving, solidarity, and genuine support,” expressing gratitude to his supporters for what he described as the words, gestures, and support he has received.

US forces arrested Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, on January 3, 2026, during a military operation carried out in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, by order of US President Donald Trump.

Maduro was transferred to a US warship following his arrest, before being moved with his wife to the United States, where they face federal charges, to which they have pleaded not guilty.
