'Interior Ministry': Bangladeshi national arrested for killing a Gulf citizen and setting fire to the Jakhur area to conceal the crime

Bloodstains in his vehicle led to the discovery of the crime, and the suspect confessed to assaulting him with a wooden stick and burning the scene.

The Criminal Security Sector managed to unravel the mystery of a fire and death inside one of the traditional wooden boats (jakhoura) in the Salwa area, and apprehended the suspect, a Bangladeshi national, after investigations confirmed that the incident was a premeditated murder.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Administration of Criminal Investigations (Al-Jahra Governorate Criminal Investigations Department), received a report indicating a fire had broken out inside the jakhoura with a deceased person on board. Upon arrival and inspection, a charred body belonging to a Gulf national was found. Additionally, bloodstains were detected inside his vehicle, raising suspicions that a murder had preceded the fire.

The ministry added that search and investigative operations led to the discovery of clothing and personal belongings belonging to the victim, along with indicators suggesting an attempt to erase traces of the crime. As information was gathered and the threads of the incident traced, suspicion fell on the jakhoura’s guard.

It was clarified that the suspect was apprehended and confronted with the findings of the investigations. He confessed to committing the crime following a dispute between them, explaining that he assaulted the victim with a wooden stick, then moved him to the feed storage area inside the jakhoura and set fire to the site with the intent to take his life and conceal the crime. He also attempted to remove bloodstains and dispose of some of the victim’s belongings.

The ministry noted that appropriate legal measures were taken against the suspect, and he was referred to the competent authorities. It reaffirmed that its security agencies would continue their efforts to uncover the circumstances of cases and apprehend perpetrators, and to firmly confront anyone who attempts to undermine the security and safety of society, bringing them to justice.
