Health Ministry: Completion of preventive control and treatment works in 542 government schools

As part of a campaign targeting more than 900 schools, in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health announced that field teams completed pest control and preventive treatment operations in 542 schools. The campaign, which targets over 900 public schools, was carried out in various regions of the country prior to the start of the academic year.

In a statement on Friday, the ministry said that between August 9 and August 20, field teams completed pest control and preventive treatment in 542 public schools according to specific plans and schedules, using approved preventive methods. Work continues to complete coverage of all targeted schools.

The campaign, part of a preventive plan running until September 3 next year, aims to enhance the readiness of the school environment for the new academic year. It is part of comprehensive field operations to combat medical insects and rodents and to strengthen environmental sanitation, thereby contributing to providing a healthy and safe school environment for students and teaching and administrative staff.

The campaign focuses on strengthening preventive measures and environmental sanitation, reducing factors that facilitate the spread and breeding of insects and rodents, and lowering infestation rates to the lowest possible levels. This supports the safety of the school environment and mitigates health risks associated with pests.

For her part, Dr. Fatima Al-Darwish, Head of the Medical Insects and Rodents Control Department at the Ministry of Health, emphasized in the statement that control efforts are part of an integrated concept of environmental sanitation that extends beyond field interventions. It includes addressing factors that contribute to pest breeding and spread, as well as promoting preventive practices that maintain a healthy and sound environment.

She stressed that environmental sanitation is a shared responsibility based on the coordinated efforts of government entities, civil society organizations, and individuals, and on reinforcing preventive behaviors in daily practices. This enhances public health protection and contributes to providing healthier and safer environments.
