National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters and 'Kalimat' Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Support Creativity
To build a community capable of generating cultural and social value
The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) and the "Kalimatan" Forum signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in supporting the creative economy, and developing cultural and creative initiatives and events, with the aim of building a creative community capable of producing cultural, social, and economic value.
The memorandum comes within the efforts of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters to develop the cultural and creative industries sector, and to develop an integrated system for the creative economy in the State of Kuwait, through building partnerships, developing national capacities, and creating an environment that enables creators and entrepreneurs to grow, interact, and produce value.
Both parties emphasized that the success of the creative economy depends not only on projects and events, but on building a creative community characterized by relationships, trust, knowledge, and opportunities, thereby enhancing the ability of creators to collaborate and innovate, and to transform their ideas and talents into projects and economic and social value.

In this context, Dr. Mohammed Khaled Al-Jassar, Secretary General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, said: "The signing of the memorandum comes as part of a series of agreements and partnerships that the Council is working to develop to build the local creative economy system."
He added: "We view this agreement as part of an integrated path to build the local creative economy system in Kuwait; what is required is not only supporting creators or organizing events, but building an environment that connects talent with knowledge, institutions with creators, and ideas with opportunities and markets."
He further added: "The Council is also working to expand the circle of partnerships with various sectors, because building a sustainable creative economy requires the integration of efforts and the convergence of expertise and resources."
For her part, Sheikh Fawah Fahad Al-Sabah, Executive Director of the "Kalimatan" Forum, pointed out that the partnership represents a shift from the concept of temporary events to building a continuous creative community.
She added: "We want events to transcend the boundaries of the event, time, and place, and to transform into platforms that create ongoing relationships between creators, youth, institutions, and the public. Our goal is to move from organizing events to building a creative community whose members interact, exchange knowledge and expertise, and create new opportunities for collaboration and production."
Sheikh Fawah Fahad Al-Sabah continued: "We see that our partnership with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters provides an important framework to achieve this direction, and to connect the Kuwaiti creative community with local, regional, and international opportunities."
For her part, Manal Al-Gharbali, media advisor and organizational partner for the "Kalimatan" Forum in Kuwait, emphasized that the partnership aims to contribute to empowering local creators and opening up opportunities for collaboration and partnerships for them from the Gulf to various countries around the world, through field programs and the exchange of creative expertise and skills.
Jaber Al-Qallaf, Creative Economy Program Manager, then spoke, saying: "Building the creative economy starts with building social and creative capital, and the relationships, trust, and networks that bring together creators, institutions, and society represent a fundamental infrastructure for the growth of the sector."
