Customs and Industry Discuss Activating Electronic Payments for Industrial Exemption Transactions and Accelerating Customs Clearance
The General Administration of Customs held a coordination meeting with the Public Authority for Industry to discuss activating electronic payment for industrial exemption transactions and expediting customs clearance procedures for imported goods.
The meeting, attended by Saleh Al-Omar, Deputy President for Port Affairs and Customs Research and Investigation, and Shamlan Al-Jahdali, Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Industry, along with representatives from both entities, reviewed a proposal submitted by the General Administration of Customs to enable electronic payment for industrial exemption transactions through the Public Authority for Industry’s website, in addition to the payment service currently available via the beneficiary’s account on the site. This initiative aims to accelerate the transmission of transactions to the customs system and facilitate the processing of exemptions under industrial exemption certificates issued to factories and Kuwaiti companies benefiting from these exemptions.
Time and Schedules
Al-Omar emphasized the General Administration of Customs’ commitment to simplifying and expediting procedures at all customs ports, in cooperation and coordination with relevant state authorities, ensuring swift processing of customs clearance transactions.
For his part, Al-Jahdali welcomed the proposal, stressing the importance of accelerating its implementation. Both parties directed their respective specialists to complete the necessary technical coordination to implement the proposed mechanism.
The meeting also addressed the importance of expediting customs clearance for the Public Authority for Industry’s transactions around the clock throughout the week, mirroring the practices already in place at the General Administration of Customs, thereby supporting the business environment and enhancing the efficiency of services provided to beneficiaries.
