In a strategic move reflecting the determination to redraw the map of oil leadership and drive production toward more flexible and sustainable horizons, Ahmed Al-Idan, CEO of Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), has initiated a series of organizational changes set to take effect starting next Tuesday.
These structural appointments aim to inject new leadership into the core of production and operations. Haif Khaled Al-Hawila has been appointed Director of the North Kuwait Operations Group, while the decision regarding the West Operations position has been deferred for later. The new vision also includes strengthening the South and East fronts by appointing Mohammed Fahad Al-Attiyah as Director of Operations Support Group, concurrently entrusting the critical safety file to Ali Hussein Qasim as Director of Operations Safety Management Group within the Commercial and Project Engineering Directorate.

According to a source familiar with the matter speaking to "Al-Siyasa," these administrative changes go beyond traditional job rotation to form a cornerstone for enhancing Kuwaiti oil security and raising operational efficiency in the field. They directly contribute to accelerating tactical decision-making and supporting the state’s strategic plans to increase production capacity and meet global market commitments, in addition to solidifying the asset and infrastructure safety system. This grants the sector immense flexibility and a sustainable competitive advantage, protecting national wealth and keeping pace with rapid changes in global energy markets.
Sources confirmed that these structural changes bring significant benefits to the oil sector, including accelerating field decision-making and delegating authority to qualified national leaders, ensuring production stability and aligning with the state’s ambitious plans to increase the country’s production capacity. Furthermore, they reinforce the governance and occupational safety system that protects petroleum assets and reduces risks in facilities. These moves constitute a new driving force supporting the company’s resilience in the face of global energy market fluctuations and meeting the future aspirations of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).
