Egypt: 9 dead and 8 injured in bus collision

The Directorate of Health Affairs in the coastal Matrouh Governorate in northwestern Egypt announced on Tuesday the death of nine people and the injury of eight others following a collision between two buses on a new regional road in the Al-Dik area of Ras Hekma.

The Directorate stated in an initial medical report that the ages of the deceased ranged from 25 to 50 years, while the ages of the injured ranged from 20 to 38 years. The deceased and injured hailed from several governorates, including Dakahlia, Kafr El Sheikh, Gharbia, Alexandria, and Cairo.

It clarified that the injuries varied from suspected internal bleeding in the abdomen and brain to multiple fractures in the limbs and skull.

The bodies of the deceased were transferred to Matrouh General Hospital to complete medical and legal procedures, while relevant authorities continued to clear debris from the road.

According to data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, the number of road accident fatalities in Egypt, including car and train accidents, rose by 10.8 percent in 2025 to 5,829 deaths, compared to 5,260 deaths in 2024.
