“The Ministry of Public Works” to oversee technical study ahead of award decision
The Central Tenders Board has postponed the bid submission deadline for the tender concerning the management, operation, and maintenance of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Bridge to September 22 of next year, instead of August 25 of this year. The bids will be opened and referred to the Ministry of Public Works for study and preparation of a technical recommendation, paving the way for the award decision.

The tender aims to ensure the management, operation, and maintenance of the bridge and its associated structures and facilities, including providing the necessary materials, equipment, labor, and specialized technical personnel to carry out the works in accordance with the conditions and specifications specified in the contract.
The works also include carrying out any necessary temporary, additional, supplementary, and modification works required by operational and maintenance needs, as well as the operation and maintenance of buildings and structures associated with the project, including truck weighing stations, the visitor center, and facilities linked to the bridge.
The Ministry is scheduled to study the submitted bids from both technical and operational perspectives before submitting its recommendation regarding the compliant offer, to complete the award procedures.

In a separate development, the Ministry of Public Works denied the authenticity of a video circulating on social media showing a pothole on a public road near one of the exits, confirming that the footage dates back several years and does not reflect the current condition of the road. The Ministry called on social media users to exercise accuracy before publishing or sharing news and clips related to its facilities and the country’s roads, due to the potential negative impact of incorrect information on society. It reaffirmed its legal right to take necessary action against those spreading false information, urging the public to follow its official accounts to obtain information or inquire about what is being circulated.
