Today, Sunday, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailan, Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, and Social Development, chaired the second meeting of the National Committee for Protection from Domestic Violence. In a statement to the media following the meeting, Minister Al-Huwailan said that the committee discussed ways to activate the provisions of Decree-Law No. (11) of 2026 concerning Protection from Domestic Violence.
She added that the meeting addressed mechanisms for rapid response to reports and complaints in coordination with relevant authorities, ensuring clear and effective procedures to protect victims and unify legal and social response pathways.
She clarified that the committee reviewed initiatives presented by representatives of member entities and their alignment with prevention, awareness, intervention, and rehabilitation efforts, in accordance with established best practices.
She noted that the meeting discussed the necessity of strengthening coordination between government entities and civil society organizations, ensuring role complementarity, enhancing the efficiency of protection programs, and preventing duplication of tasks.
She explained that discussions highlighted the importance of launching extensive awareness campaigns regarding family members’ rights and means of their protection, based on current legislation, including the laws on Protection from Domestic Violence and Child Protection.
She reported that the committee tasked member entities with submitting their proposals, each according to its jurisdiction, to facilitate their discussion, consolidation, and the preparation of a draft comprehensive national strategy for protection from domestic violence.
