Several people were injured on Friday in an attack carried out by an armed individual wielding a sword at the Brinellskolan school in the city of Västerås, central Sweden, according to Reuters.

Swedish police said they received a report at 14:06 regarding an incident classified as “ongoing lethal violence” inside a school in Västerås, noting that they dispatched units to the scene and arrested a person, while continuing operations with multiple units and resources.

The Västerås municipality confirmed that an individual armed with a sword entered the school and injured several people, as police forces and emergency rescue teams were deployed around the site.
