Criminal Investigation Department Solves Mystery of 4 Diesel Theft and Telecom Tower Sabotage Cases, Arrests Suspects Red-Handed

The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations – Capital Governorate Criminal Investigations Department, successfully unraveled the mystery of four cases involving diesel theft and the sabotage of telecommunications towers in the Jaber Al-Ahmad area, which had been registered against unknown perpetrators. Four Indian nationals were apprehended in the act.

The Ministry of Interior stated in a press release that the arrests followed intensified search and investigative efforts, leveraging modern technological means and monitoring of telecommunications towers. It emerged that the suspects were employed by a contracted maintenance company and exploited their roles to siphon excessive amounts of diesel. They used part of the fuel to compensate for shortages in other towers, while misappropriating the remainder for sale.

The ministry added that the suspects confessed upon interrogation to committing these offenses over a two-year period at various locations. Investigations revealed their involvement in similar incidents across different governorates of the country. Inventory and investigative work are ongoing, paving the way for their referral to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its continued efforts to pursue perpetrators of theft and protect vital facilities and infrastructure, emphasizing a firm stance against anyone attempting to tamper with or harm national interests.
