8 Dead in Plane Crash in Western Alaska
US Northern Command, part of the US Department of Defense, said eight people were killed on Thursday in a plane crash in a remote area of western Alaska, in the far northwest of North America.
The US ABC News network quoted the command responsible for military and defense operations in the Alaska and Arctic regions as saying that all eight passengers on board the plane were killed in the crash.
For its part, the Federal Aviation Administration said the Cessna 441 aircraft took off from Anchorage, Alaska, on Thursday afternoon local time.
It noted that the plane was heading to the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site, a public and military surveillance radar station operated by the US Air Force, adding that it crashed west of the radar site’s airport.
