Al-Mughams: Always standing by Khartoum, in line with Kuwait’s steadfast approach
Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohiuddin Salem, expressed his country’s appreciation for the significant humanitarian efforts undertaken by the Red Crescent Society in supporting the Sudanese people, which reflects the deep fraternal and historical ties binding the two countries and their peoples.
Minister Salem, following his visit to the Red Crescent Society’s headquarters yesterday, stated that the visit was intended to convey thanks on behalf of the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the Prime Minister, Dr. Kamal Idries, and the Sudanese people to Kuwait and the Red Crescent Society for their continuous humanitarian efforts and their support for the people of Sudan.
He added that the Red Crescent Society was the first to reach those in need and affected in Sudan, and in some phases, it preceded many other bodies and organizations in delivering aid to its rightful recipients, reflecting the deep bonds between the two peoples and the Kuwaiti people’s commitment to standing by their brothers in all circumstances.
He clarified that Kuwaiti support for Sudan has not ceased since the beginning of the crisis, as aid and humanitarian flights continued across various stages. He noted that he had closely observed these efforts during his previous work in Kuwait, as well as during his tenure overseeing relief efforts in Sudan. He emphasized that, for the Sudanese people, Kuwait is not merely a sister state but holds a firm place in their hearts and consciousness. He stressed Sudan’s solidarity with Kuwait and its readiness to stand by it and serve as a pillar of support in all circumstances and stages.
Minister Salem expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Kuwaiti people, their leadership, and their humanitarian institutions for their stance toward Sudan, praying to God Almighty to perpetuate the blessings of security, stability, and prosperity upon Kuwait and to protect it and its people from all harm.
For his part, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Crescent Society, Khaled Al-Mughams, affirmed that the Society has always been and remains present alongside its brothers in Sudan, in line with Kuwait’s steadfast humanitarian approach and its commitment to extending a helping hand to affected peoples.
He stated, “The Society swiftly began providing relief, medical, food, and shelter assistance since the outbreak of the crisis. It continued its efforts in the following years through air and sea bridges and projects aimed at supporting basic services, alongside cooperation with humanitarian and health partners.”
He pointed out that the Society’s interventions were not limited to emergency relief but also included supporting healthcare and distributing aid to families in shelters. He confirmed that work would continue alongside Sudanese brothers during the recovery and reconstruction phase.
Al-Mughams reiterated the commitment to continuing support for Sudan and enhancing cooperation with the Sudanese Red Crescent and humanitarian partners, in order to meet humanitarian needs and improve basic services for those affected.
