Foreign Minister to Visit Korea on Tuesday

To hold talks on energy and reconstruction

The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber will visit the capital, Seoul, next Tuesday, to hold bilateral discussions with his South Korean counterpart, Cho Hyun, focusing on enhancing cooperation between the two countries and addressing several strategic and economic files of mutual interest.

The ministry stated that this visit marks the first by a Kuwaiti foreign minister to South Korea since 2007, a move reflecting both countries’ commitment to strengthening high-level communication and expanding the horizons of their bilateral partnership.

Spokesperson for the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Park Do-sun, said during a regular press conference that the broadening scope of cooperation with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the wake of the war in the Middle East makes it expected that the talks will address revitalizing high-level exchanges, ensuring the stability of energy supplies, and facilitating the participation of Korean companies in post-war reconstruction projects, alongside ways to expand direct cooperation between the governments of the two countries.

The ministry noted that Kuwait was, until 2025, the fifth-largest supplier of crude oil to South Korea and the fourth-largest external market for Korean construction and contracting companies, affirming that the two countries have maintained a comprehensive and mutually beneficial partnership.

The visit of the Kuwaiti foreign minister to Seoul is expected to pave the way for advancing Kuwaiti-South Korean cooperation in the fields of energy, construction, and reconstruction, alongside enhancing governmental coordination and high-level exchanges between the two countries.
