'Shocking certificate' reveals dangerous indicators overlooked by Maradona's doctors
Nearly six years after the passing of Argentine football legend Diego Maradona, details of his final days have come to the forefront in a courtroom, with medical testimony indicating that serious health indicators preceding his death should have prompted his medical team to treat them as early warnings.
In the latest session of the trial of Maradona’s medical team, nephrologist Hernan Trimarchi stated that the kidney failure suffered by the Argentine star should have served as a clear warning sign for his doctors.
Trimarchi told a court near Buenos Aires, which is hearing charges of criminal negligence against Maradona’s medical team, that the 1986 World Cup champion was suffering from “chronic kidney disease.”
Maradona died at the age of 60 on November 25, 2020, while recovering from brain surgery to remove a blood clot, at a rented house in the Tigre suburb of Buenos Aires.

According to medical reports, Maradona died from heart failure and an acute pulmonary crisis caused by fluid accumulation in the lungs.
Seven healthcare workers, including his personal physician, his psychiatrist, and nursing staff members, face charges of providing extremely substandard care, while the court examines whether the decision to allow him to recover in a private home rather than a medical facility contributed to endangering his life.
The defendants deny responsibility for Maradona’s death, and if convicted, they could face prison sentences of up to 25 years.
