Saudi Foreign Minister: We continue efforts to de-escalate and prevent the resumption of conflicts... Diplomacy and dialogue are our priorities

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed that the Kingdom continues its efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent the recurrence of conflicts, by focusing on comprehensive and sustainable diplomatic solutions that address the sources of instability in the region. He stressed that diplomacy, dialogue, and peaceful means remain among the Kingdom’s top priorities, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

This came during the third Strategic Dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Japan, held today in Riyadh at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, following the reception of the Japanese Foreign Minister. Prince Faisal bin Farhan met with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized that the Kingdom places great importance on its longstanding relations with Japan, which have been established over decades and are based on mutual trust and respect. He noted that Japan is a key economic partner for the Kingdom.

He clarified that Saudi Arabia looks forward to continuing the development of bilateral relations and leveraging the economic opportunities available to both countries. He pointed to promising prospects for expanding cooperation in investment, energy, resources, and supply chains, as well as in defense, technology, and the exchange of expertise and capabilities, thereby supporting priorities and achieving shared objectives.

He affirmed that the Kingdom will remain a reliable partner for Japan in various fields, including energy, and praised Tokyo’s efforts and initiatives that contribute to enhancing economic resilience and stabilizing global energy and trade markets.

The Saudi Foreign Minister stressed that maritime security is a top shared priority between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of protecting freedom of navigation in all international waterways in accordance with international law. He highlighted the necessity of keeping the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandab, and all maritime passages open, secure, and free from any threats.

He also commended Japan’s role in supporting the principles of international law, its humanitarian and developmental contributions, and its positions supporting stability and peaceful solutions.

Attending the reception were the Saudi Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Ghazi bin Faisal bin Zaqar, and the Director General of the Asian Countries Department, Ambassador Nasser Al Ghanim.
